Henri Cartier-Bresson, Harry Gruyaert and Joel Meyerowitz are some of the most valuable names in the history of photography. I have looked at their work for many years, and the more I looked, the more I saw.
Three different ways of seeing
Henri Cartier-Bresson — his name goes together with "the decisive moment": the instant when everything in a scene falls into place for a second.
Harry Gruyaert — in his photographs, colour and light are almost the subject itself.
Joel Meyerowitz — one of the first to take colour seriously in street photography.
Looking at a good photographer's work doesn't push you to copy; it pushes you to ask different questions. It teaches you to look at the same scene through another lens, to notice a different light or a moment you had not seen until then. For me, these three names did exactly that.
